SSC CHSL Selection Procedure 2019 – Check Details

Combined Higher Secondary Level of Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission through its official website. The candidates can apply for the CHSL post through the official website currently from 5th March 2019 till 5th April 2019. The candidates can apply for the post after reading the official notification that is shared on the official website of SSC. It is mandatory to have all the necessary information from the official notification published on the official website. The recruitment is not simply an examination of the written test but a multi-level Selection Process. Read this article for all the necessary details of SSC CHSL Selection Procedure 2019.


The SSC CHSL Selection process 2019 is a multi-level event. The candidates are required to compete for all the levels and successfully clear the examinations. The following are the multilevel selection process of SSC CHSL 2019.

Tier 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)

Tier 2: Descriptive Test (DT)

Tier 3: Skill Test / Typing Test (ST)



Computer Based Test

This level of the examination is conducted in the online mode. The written exam consists of multiple-choice questions. There will be 4 different sections from which the questions will be asked. In the following table, the SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier 1 is given. The examination will be conducted through the assigned Exam centers. There would be 25 questions in each section of the examination. In total, there would be 100 questions that each question would be of 2 marks per question. Thus, each section will be of 50 marks for each section. Total marks of the question will be of 200 marks. 0.5 Marks would be deducted for the incorrect answers that the candidate provides in the examination. 60 Minutes time will be given to appear in the examination. There are 4 sections in the examination: English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness. The examination will also be conducted in Hindi along with the English Language.


Descriptive Test

The candidates who clear the cut off of the CBT examination will be appearing for the Descriptive Test. This examination will be conducted in the Pen and Paper mode. This examination will be conducted in offline method only. There will be 2 questions. Each question will be of 50 marks and in total the examination will be of 100 marks. The two questions will be to write in an essay and a letter. The number of words for each answer must be of 200 -250 words for an essay, and 150 – 200 word for the letter. 60 minutes of time will be given to the candidates to complete their paper. The examination can be written in English or Hindi too.


Skill test

This last selection process is of the skill test. It will be a Computer Based Examination. The candidate’s Typing Test will be taken. The candidates would be given a time period of 15 minutes. Typing speed of the candidate will be tested.


Document Verification

Finally, after the results are declared for all the rounds, the candidates would be asked in for the Document Verification. All the necessary documentation for the process must be submitted in original and 2 xerox copies each. Finally, the merit list will be announced for the candidates to appear in the Document verification.
